Guest Speaker
John Mcdougall -Private
Insurance Adjuster member of NAPIA, (National Association
of Public Insurance Adjusters), BS in Business Admin from
NAU, CLA, (Certified Legal Assistant), a PCLS, (Property
Claims Law Specialist) and was a CREA (Certified Real
Estate Appraiser).
Talked about different
cases he had represented in the Mt Lemon fire. Also addressed
how 54% of home insurers are not adequately covered in
their home insurance policies.
John mentioned that
insurance is to have and not to use therefore, you should
never make a claim under $5,000 on your home policy. If
the damage is not catastrophic then pay for it out of
pocket or watch your insurance rates increase and pay
allot more over time.
Also, if the bank
will alow it increase your home poilicy to a $5,000 deductable.
This will decrease the amount of money paid annually on
the policy. This will also discourage using the policy
until it is a true emergancy.
